Forza Motorsport 3 appears to have upped the ante with the release of Forza Motorsport 3. This game sits at the top of the pack as the most realistic in the racing game genre. Through a combination of research, cooperative development, added features and excellent use of the XBox's high-definition graphics, Forza has propelled one and multi-player racing to a new level.

Microsoft worked with automotive engineers from research and development at some of the world's elite automobile manufacturers. The technological considerations taken through this cooperative design has resulted in the most advanced damage calculations, artificial calculations and physics model in a console racer. The realism has been implemented in conjunction with adaptive difficulty. Leveling the playing field is achieved through a sliding difficulty scale that increases with a driver's skill.

In addition to the advances in technology and graphics, Forza Motorsport 3 has increased the number of cars available to over 400 from 50 different manufacturers. The cars can be driven on any of over 100 courses in timed events, drag, drift, oval and circuit formats. There is no better variety of modifications and custom details available for the avid car enthusiast. Cars range in make, model and year from classic American muscle cars to luxurious European roadsters.

Making use of the XBox Live on-line gaming community, Forza 3 will offer several options for multi-player racing. Players can be broken into several teams for competition between skill levels. Additionally, game play assists can be tuned to help the lesser skilled driver compete with a seasoned Forza veteran. Laps, co-operative on-line racing against another team of on-line racers, changing what qualifies as winning a race and manipulating courses and cars should provide near enough unlimited entertainment to the racing gamer. The technology Microsoft is implementing through this release should provide split screen options without the interruptions in game play so often associated with internet racing. Customized races can be saved locally, which presents an interesting opportunity for on-line gamers to make reputations for themselves as race moguls. Users of the previous Forza games will also appreciate the bridge between on-line play and off-line careers. Players will now earn experience points and incentives on-line that will stick to their career when gaming individually.
